I attended Illinois Wesleyan University after high school and received my B.S. in nursing and a B.A. in Elementary Education. I have worked as a nurse for over 36 years and the areas I worked in were school nursing, pediatric, intensive care, obstetrics, home care and Hospice, agency nursing at both hospitals and nursisng homes. I lived in Evanston, IL, many of those years and raised my three childres, Paula (40), Lori (38) and Jeff (35). I love to spend time with my family and four grandchildren and also to travel and volunteer in the community. I have retired now and I am recovering from recent hip surgery. I certainly hope to see many of you at our 50th reunion.

I have three children - Jenny, Steven (died in infancy - SIDS) and Jill.  I also have three grandchildren: Stephen 33, Gina 30 and Devon 22 (died by suicide at age 22 - 4 yrs ago).  I worked as a pharmacy technician for 23 years and retired.  I then went to work as a substitute secretary in the Beloit School District for about 10 years.  I have always lived in the area, as do my children and grandchildren.  This afforded me the luxury of attending sports events, concerts, etc which was wonderful!  I have two great grandchildren - Nyame is 6yrs old and Damion is 4-1/2 - not siblings.  Spending time with my family is my greatest blessing.

I enjoy scrapbooking, crochet, jewelry making and many other crafts.

July 07, 1945 Dentist Married 1
After high school I went to Pennsylvania on a machinist apprenticeship program with Landis Tool Co. While there on the program I went to the Penn State Campus at Mont Alto PA to take several business and engineering courses. At the end of the apprenticeship program I returned to Beloit and worked at Gardner Machine Co. as a tool designer and eventually as a sales engineer.

In 1968 I married my wonderful wife Mary after returning from active duty in the Army Reserve. I returned to School at the University of Wisconsin in 1969. I eventually went on to Marquette University Dental School in 1972. After graduation I returned to Beloit to set up a private practice and in 1988 joined Dr. Jack Frey to form a group practice on Cranston Ave. Lately, I have slowed down somewhat but still work several days a week.

Mary and I have one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca (30yrs.) & Ryan (32yrs.). We also have one lovely granddaughter, Katie (3.5yrs.) and luckily they all live only 2 hours away in Cedarburg, WI.  We also have two, somewhat well behaved, Scottie Dogs and are active in “Scottie Rescue”.

Mary and I enjoy many activities and hobbies such as hunting, model railroading, snowmobiling, bicycling, competitive shooting, golfing (we are Duffers!) and driving our little old “hot rod” but nothing, truly nothing compares to being grandparents! And BTW I am trying to do my best at the spoiling part!!!

Margaret (Pennie) Hammond (Caron)
July 11, 1945 Retired Registered Land Surveyor Divorced
My life since graduation has taken many twists and turns. I started out wanting to be an architect, even attended architectural school and took classes in building construction. But I became a Florida Land Surveyor. I surprised myself with how much I liked history and math and was fortunate to head/work on several retracement projects, major developments, and with major national clients. I enjoyed my profession and had fun in the process.

Marriage didn’t work for me and yet I liked being around children, so for over 26 years I was a Big Sister through Big Brothers and Sisters, Tampa Florida. I was matched with a total of 6 children and we stayed match until they graduated out of the program. I still here from them. I tell people I rented my children - walking, talking, and with their clothes on.

Retirement is a challenge for me. I’m currently doing the usual retirement activities - travel etc. Would love to have a survey problem to solve.

Also would love to hear from anyone who remembers me (Pennie Hammond) or anyone who wants to say hello. ReAuntie@msn.com

Thank you to all who work or have worked on the reunion efforts.
