Retired but Professional unpaid volunteer

I was blessed with 3 children. My 2 sons are great gentlemen and make me very proud.
**7/16/13** I was notified that I did not explain mentioning only my two sons. Sadly, my daughter was killed in an accident in December of 2009. One of the best things she ever did was to provide a great Grandson. I also have a Granddaughter via my oldest son.
Retired originally in 2002, but that lasted for a couple of weeks as I went whacky not having much to do. Went back to work consultingand working in the eminent domain field which was my field during a pay job. I was also assigned to work with the state legislature on related issues, which I continue to do to this day. Worked in 3 states, consulted in 3 others and provided assistance for a couple of federal agencies. Loved every minute of it. Gave it all up when my daughter was killed in an accident in 2009.
I volunteer for and am on the Board of Directors for CASA, Smiles for a Lifetime and am past preseident and current present of the local Council of the Navy League of the United States. I serve as advisor to the NJROTC program at the local High School. Past Board member and current member of Kiwanis. Past Key Club Advisor at local High School for Kiwanis.
My work with the Navy League affords me the opportunity to meet and work with some of our greatest warriors who go do deeds on behalf of the people of the United States and the security of our contry, i.e. NSAWC, Top Gun and Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Center. Opinions on the why aside, I pay attention to the deeds these great young men and women do for us.
Looking forward to the reunion.
(Nancy - did I pass the essay portion of this test?)

Committed Relationship
I have 2 amazing boys that I raised myself. Both graduated college and have great careers in the medical profession. In the process I was the first WOMAN vice president of Texas State Optical - a big franchise company in the South. I ran the manufacturing lab in Beaumont, TX - not a good place to visit or live......very polluted. After that I was the director of operations for New West Eyeworks traveling from Alaska to Colorado, through Oregon, Idaho and Washington too........such beautiful country. Too much travel and stress made me realize that there was something better in life. Now I chill, enjoy my church, take care of my significant other ( Ho Chul Choi),volunteer at the cat shelter, garden, redecorate this old Portland house we bought, hit the gym and travel. Oh, no idea of who this kid in the picture is.......just a cute little boy that wanted his picture taken. We rode to the coast this day on our motorcycle........such fun.
Check out my videos on YouTube at: TheTravelrabbit. I always travel with the rabbit.

I joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 and ended up being stationed in Mt. View, California. I married Barbara Swinehart in 1967, we will celebrate 46 years of marriage in August of this year. We reside in San Jose, California and have a 41 year old son and a 36 year old daughter. Two Grandchildren, a 10 year old Grandson 2-18-2003 and a brand new Granddaughter 2-18-2013 , they were born exactly 10 years to the day apart. We are lovin it ! Grandkids are definately the best. After the Navy I eventually found my calling in the Jewelry business and then spent nearly 30 years as a Designer, Goldsmith/Diamond Setter, designing, creating and selling fine jewelry, with our own retail store for much of that time. I left the jewelry industry about 10 years ago and became a General Building Contractor doing remodel work full time and golfing once in a while. Maybe next year it will be golfing full time and contracting once in a while. Yeah, I think that's the best way!

Allan Scott and I married, Oct. 1, 1965. We have 3 +2 children. Our 3 children are 41, 37, 31. and Kirsten, (named after Kirsten Everson) our oldest, has 2 boys & they live across the road from me!
We sponsored (financial, educational) 2 cousins from VietNam, arriving Feb. 1980 (18 yrs of age). They escaped VN with their parents' blessings. They quickly became a total part of our family. They come to Gma's (7 Gkids) yearly or I travel where they live. I visited/taught English to Chinese school teachers in Inner Mongolia, Fall 2009. Kirsten, Tim (37) and I flew to Singapore to visit our youngest son, Matt, Apr. 2012. Tim is a research scientist at U of KY Hospital and Matt is an electrical engineer grad of U/KY, but working/living in Singapore. Getting married OCT 06, 2013 to a wonderful girl! Again, Kirsten, Tim & I are flying there for the wedding on OCT 01 - which coincidently, would have been our 48 wedding anniversary. :( |

In 1991, Beloit Corp sent Brad to Jilenia Gora, Poland, for two years to help the Polish people at a new factory. Ruth was living in Chicago at that time. She was a teacher and came with us to Poland to teach Anna and Matt. They had a classroom on the company grounds. St. John's (the childrens' school in Beloit) sent all their books, work books, etc. We came home for Christmas both years and when we were here, the children had their desks in their classrooms and were in school for the time we were here.
Ruth died from cancer Sept. 30, 2012. We have 6 grandchildren.
